Okay, yeah... so I got this idea from the television show Lost (One of the best episodes I think and it's usually pretty good so that's saying a lot). In the episode Charlie writes about the 5 top greatest moments or things in his life... so I gave it some thought and came up with my own five moments and explanations for each... the explanations are due to the fact that I can't do flashbacks for you... sorry.
5 - Watching my first full episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Is that really that great of a thing? Watching a television show? Well I can recall the episode clearly... before I had seen bits and pieces of Buffy... just enough to know what's kinda going on and who people kinda were. But in every episode I'd watched up until that moment Buffy never had a sister to my knowledge so I started watching to figure out what was going on and I got hooked on it. Then I became a Buffy fan and through that moved to Angel and then Firefly and Serenity. I see that whole universe as sparking from that one moment and it became a large part of my life!
4 - Finding Andrea at Knott's Berry Farm - I've described this in length somewhere on this blog, but it is something that I remember pretty vividly. While at Knott's I separated myself from my friends... we met up with Andrea and her friends and I guess I sorta felt left out (Something of a recurring episode with me, although I've gotten better at handling it). Anyhow, after Jeff had found me we set off to find Andrea and her group and without any real deductive reasoning we followed our instincts and managed to find her in the log ride line. Unfortunately, as of earlier this year she no longer speaks to me but that event still plays in my mind and is the closest I've ever been to having a preternatural sense.
3 - Giving the Hibiscus flower to Arron - This was fairly recent... May I think, but it really sticks out in my mind and probably will for quite some time. Perhaps you know of my confessed feelings for Arron and if you don't, the short of it is that I have feelings for a girl named Arron and in case you were wondering... it's very unlikely that our paths will ever cross again let alone the thought of her sharing my feelings; however, towards the end of the semester (Spring 2007) I gave her a flower. I had help from my friend Courtney (who gave me the flower from her yard with the intention to give it to Arron). I told her I had a magic trick to show her and pretended to pull an item from behind her hair... there was nothing in my hand when the trick was finished and I said something about needing props to do magic. She of course hit me (Well, more of a push... the playful kind) and I pulled the flower out of my pocket and gave it to her (only the stem was in my pocket btw) she smiled and said that yellow was her favorite color of flower... I guess I probably over-romanticize the event... but even though she's not in my life currently, it sticks out as one of the things I remember.
Speaking of flowers, one time I built up enough courage to give her a rose on Valentine's Day after singing Music of the Night from Phantom of the Opera in our class... actually kind of a cheesy memory and nothing more ever came of it... but still...
2 - Filming the first Crystal Nebula Run - Some of you might have seen it, some might not have. Either way this was one of my favorite things... it was on the night that was supposed to be our Senior Prom but I don't think many, if any, of us went. Most of my group of friends stayed around for my birthday party where we filmed my first movie (Well, I mean the first shot with my own camera and I edited myself, not the first I was in) The Crystal Nebula Run. We only had a very basic script, written by Lucas that was based on an idea Jeff had where we stared out the window and stuff was happening. More of a large inside joke, it was a group effort that was a lot of fun and a time I thoroughly enjoyed.
1 - Getting the N64 on Christmas morning - At first this might seem really shallow, but it really captures the idea of why I enjoy Christmas so much. I am a fairly spoiled child... being an only child and the eldest of my cousins has that effect (I don't think I act like a brat though... not all the time at least... at least I do try to share the goodness of my life with the people I care for... I'm gonna shut up now) and I really wanted an N64 in '96 or '97... whichever year it was. When Christmas morning came around I was having such a good time with my mom and grandma and uncle and Mary Lee (who is my grandma's best friend since she was in school) I totally forgot about even asking for the N64... afterwards my mom pulled another package out of an end table cupboard for me... it turned out that she had gotten me an N64 after all. Maybe that last part kills the story but I don't think so... it reminds me of a really good time and I strive to bring that feeling to people especially at Christmas time... or that time of year...
So that's the top 5 for myself at the current time. It could and probably will change over time, but that's how I feel now... and there are tons more things that could've made the list... my first time in a musical, singing Confrontation in front of concert choir, singing the Star Wars rap with Jared Emilio in front of the choir, even the time I asked Arron out (it was a rejection really but I still think of it as a positive event). There are many more but the 5 I listed I think sum up some of what I value in my life. Who knows what lies ahead but writing this down has gotten me to think about these things and now I'm really happy... so now I guess I have a lifeline of hope for those times when things are getting a little rocky in my life. Here's to the future!
